Caroline Kolakoski Obituary

Caroline (Castronovo) Kolakoski age 84, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Thursday February 29, 2024. She was born in Brooklyn, New York and lived in Hackensack, NJ before moving to Ringwood fifty-eight years ago.  Prior to retiring, Caroline was a vice president with Irving Savings & Loan in Ringwood, NJ.  She also worked at Varn/Graph Tech at the end of her career.

Beloved wife of the late Chester Kolakoski and life partner with Bruce Werner.  Loving mother of Kenneth Kolakoski and his wife Lena, Kim Ann Eckhardt and Keith Kolakoski and his wife Klaudia.  Dear sister of Josie Loud and her late husband Jim, Michael Castronovo and Sandy, Anthony Castronovo and his wife Marie, Barbara Timmons and her late husband Barney, Charlotte Di Cuia and her late husband Vic, Jaqueline Paternostro and her husband Angelo, Charles Castronovo and his wife Beverly, the late Anne Zocco and her late husband Steve, Betty DeRose and Frank, Linda Belanger and her husband Tim and Diane Freud and her husband Lee.  Grandmother of Alexa Kolakoski, Kristin Vosburg and her husband Ryan, Andrew Eckhardt and his wife Marianne, Chett Kolakoski and Kim and Tara Campagnola and her husband Matt. Great-grandmother of Cove Vosburg and Kaia Vosburg.

Caroline was a beautiful and elegant lady.  She was a lifelong physical fitness enthusiast, but enjoyed her daily walks the most.  The beach was always a special place, with her vacation getaway in Lavallette on the Jersey Shore providing some of the most beloved memories with family and friends.  Caroline also loved to travel, making sure to enjoy the islands in the Caribbean as much as possible, with a highlight being a cruise in the Mediterranean with Bruce, her kids and grandkids.

She will be missed most for her generous spirit and focus on her family.  Whether it was as a scout leader or cheering on her boys in football, she was supportive in every way.  She also enjoyed serving as a volunteer at Chilton Memorial Hospital in Pompton Plains.
